They say Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer and I couldn’t agree more with that statement. Whether it’s a road trip, train ride, flight to somewhere remote or you decide on a cruise, travel is fun or can be fun with the right tools. My name is Titilola and I am an avid traveler and today I am debunking 3 travel myths in the hopes that it encourages you to explore the world around you more. While exploring these myths, I will be sharing my pro travel tips and share ways you can save on your next travel.
3 Travel Myths Debunked
You need a lot of money to travel
This misconception has prevented a lot of people from traveling and logically I get it. Photos from social don’t help either LOL. I am here to tell you that isn’t the case. I am sharing a few mailing lists I highly recommend when looking to save on travel. Matt’s Flights and Scott’s Cheap Flights are two of my current favorite websites. I also love Google Flights. (I use it to play around with travel dates and find options that work best for my budget.) They provide daily deals from the US, Canada, and Europe. P.S. You don’t have to sign up for their premium service, the free option sends amazing deals.
Pro Tip #1: Sign up to be on the mailing list of your favorite airlines so you don’t miss out on their sales.
Pro Tip #2: Consider setting up a Travel fund account so you can take advantage of these sales when they pop up.
Pro Tip #3: Be flexible, it’s easier to find deals when your travel dates are somewhat flexible.

Planning a fun trip is a lot of work
This is the biggest complaint I hear when it comes to travel! “Planning is stressful” or “I don’t know where to begin.” The first thing you need to do is give yourself TIME. Planning a last minute trip will be stressful and it might be difficult to save too. I have planned numerous affordable trips without compromising my standards (I typically stay in 4-star hotel at the minimum)
Pro Tip #1: Call your favorite airline (I have gotten one of the best rates by talking to agents)
Pro Tip #2: Book your flight and hotel as a package (Airlines and third party websites offer this)
Pro Tip #3: Consider off-peak travel (resorts are begging you to visit, so they have pre-planned packages with lots of savings)

Traveling with kids is impossible/stressful
I have a 5-year-old and a 9 nine-year-old who has been traveling with me since they were infants. Like routines, once kids get used to traveling, it is easy to take them anywhere! I have some general rules to make traveling with kids easy whether it is on a road trip or flight and kids of all ages. Click HERE to read.
Pro Tip #1: Save on International flights with kids when you book directly from your airline (they offer a minimum of $150 or more but you have to call to get this savings)
Pro Tip #2: Travel with your stroller, you get to settle in on the plane before anyone else.
Final words, traveling off-peak doesn’t mean traveling when the weather is awful. Traveling to the Caribbean Islands in late January/February is considered off-peak (weather is in the high 70s.)
