You only get 18 summers with them at home.

One day they’ll be grown, busy building lives of their own. But right now, you still have this season. The laughs in the backseat. The excitement of counting down to a trip together. The little hands reaching for yours. The memories they’ll carry long after they’ve left home.

For the past 12 +years, we’ve intentionally chosen to collect travel memories as a family of four. It started with my husband before we even had kids, and we’ve made it a priority ever since.

It hasn’t always been easy. We don’t come from generational wealth or have an inheritance waiting for us. Just two determined parents who decided that, whenever we could, we’d choose experiences over things and show our kids as much of the world as possible.

That didn’t mean luxury vacations every year. We started with road trips to nearby states. As our circumstances changed, those adventures grew into international trips. The destination mattered far less than the time we spent together.

The years move faster than you think. The toys will be forgotten. The memories won’t.

Make the summers count.
