Travel essential post: How to pack light on vacation

How are you doing? I have always wanted to share a travel essential post on  how to pack light. I recently traveled to Cuba and it was the perfect opportunity to put this together. I consider myself a light traveler and I am sharing tips on how you can be one too. On this particular trip, I traveled with over 7 outfits, 7 different shoes and accessories so enough outfit for a whole week’s travel in my Delsey Comete 4 wheel spinner luggage. I am a huge fan of Delsey luggage and was happy to collaborate with them. I own luggage from this brand that dates back to 1999! They make quality products and I am glad the quality still remains the same.

I received my Delsey Comete 4 wheel spinner luggage for free from Delsey. I love that it is an expandable hard shell luggage in the most gorgeous pink color. It had room for all my travel items and I also love that when expanded it fitted easily into the overhead bin on the plane without struggle. It is no longer available on Delsey.com but you can shop via a third party site or buy similar styles on their website. Delsey carry on luggage varies in price from under $80 to about $249 depending on style on material.

It was easy for me to roll around my Delsey Comete spinner while I explored around Havana shooting my fashion looks.

Plan looks ahead of time

When I pack, I always decide ahead of time my looks for each day. That way I don’t over pack or under pack. I sometimes take photos of flat lays of each look to ensure I don’t leave anything behind. Sometimes, I add an extra t-shirt or two & shorts just in case; but for the most part I don’t pack blindly. Pictured below are the shoes I packed for my trip. Not pictured are my sneakers that I wore on my flight.

Keep delicate shoes in dust bags

I always ensure that I pack my delicate shoes in the duster (always follow this rule.) Even when I am traveling with a suitcase, I still keep my shoes in my  carry on to ensure they don’t get squashed. Trust me, I had one of my favorite shoes destroyed when I kept it in my luggage and arrived home to find them in a very sad state:( I zip it all the way which kept them secure and separate from everything else. You can get away with leaving your shoe box behind if you follow this rule.

Fold and stack clothing items but place delicate items in a bag

When it comes to my clothing, I fold them up and start stacking them. I don’t bother with ironing them before hand. I put my delicate clothing items in plastic bags which ensures that nothing comes out of place. I packed a sequin dress for my trip and I ensured that I placed it in a bag. When my box is full, I resort to sitting on it to close it lol. My delicates are secure so I never have issues with any item breaking.

Limit accessories

While it would be awesome to pack as much jewelry cos you might change your mind  cos we women do lol, it is always a good idea to just pack what is necessary. Pictured here are the jewelry pieces I packed for my trip and I wore every single one. I put the delicate piece in its’ original box and also put it in a ziploc bag.

I then put them in one of my travel pouches to keep it secure.

Pack travel size makeup and limit it to only the essentials

Pack your makeup in your waterproof lined makeup bag. This ensures that any spillage doesn’t sip through your other items.

Keep your sunglasses in it’s original case or any case

This ensures that they break or bend during transit.

Pack travel size toiletries and opt for small containers

I always make a trip to my local Target to stock up on travel size bottles for my face wash, lotion and body wash. I also buy travel size sun block, deodorant and tooth paste. Pictured below are all my essentials from my body spray to perfume all within the 5.oz travel requirement.

While it would be awesome to carry a number of bags when I travel, I limit them too. I honestly usually stick to a crossbody bag like my Henri Bendel black bag, a clutch like my F & W style one and a tote. It’s vacation and not a fashion show & you will be fine if you stick to neutral colors like I did.

I always travel with my Longchamp tote, it is a great tote to keep all your “extras”

I never travel without floss, lol. What is one thing you can’t do without?
