Vacation Diary: Cancun, Mexico

Hi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I am sharing some images from my family vacation to Cancun, Mexico as part of my monthly Travel posts. I have always thought of Cancun as a Party city/ Spring break central for college kids but even with these reservations I decided on a family vacation there. Boy was I wrong and all my assumptions put to shame, lol.

Cancun exceeded my expectations in every way! From the  crystal blue warm Caribbean waters, to the local cuisines and top notch hospitality, just to name a few. Taking my own advice, we booked this trip for the earlier part of the year (off-peak season) because it is inexpensive and less crowded too. (Read about my travel saving tips here.) We saved on hotel cost, flight and our meals just from doing this. We selected the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach for many reasons.

#1 We were traveling with our kids, so a good Kids club was something we wanted to keep the kids occupied and give us alone time.

#2 We didn’t want to venture too much outside of the hotel, so we picked a beach front hotel.
#3 We wanted a top notch/highly reviewed hotel with restaurants on ground. Le Basilic, one of the restaurants on ground,  is a AAA Five-Diamond French Mediterranean restaurant.
#4 This was for me, lol, a top grade spa:)
This hotel offered this and much more. Again we went off peak so we paid way less than the average nightly rate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We spent a day in Tulum, Mexico which is about 2 hours from Cancun on a free excursion. Its a must see if you are a history buff. The Mayan ruins in all its glory and it doesn’t hurt that there is an amazing beach there too. It rained on our trip to Tulum, so I couldn’t take as much pictures as I would have I liked.

I had the best spa experience of my life (to date) at the Gem spa in our hotel. They had a 10-step hydrotherapy (90 minutes) ritual which came complimentary with a spa service (I booked a massage.)
