Why I attended New York Fashion Week This Year

New York Fashion Week for me came to an end yesterday and boy was it an experience! Today, I am sharing why I decided to attend Fashion Week this year and why you should go (especially if you’re a fashion blogger.) I am also highlighting a few of the looks I wore during New York Fashion week. I am not yet at the level in blogging where I receive tones of invitation to shows (I mostly reached out for the ones I got to see) hence why I didn’t stress going in the past but the reasons I listed below changed that. Keep reading to see my reasons.

Networking

Fashion Week is a great opportunity to Network with brands that I already had a relationship with. I was able to do exactly that each day while I was in the city. There are limited opportunities to do this outside of fashion week since most brands are spread out across the globe. I would say, it was definitely worth the trip just for the connections alone.

Tip: Best way to go about this is reaching out to brand reps ahead of time and ask if anyone from the brand would be attending fashion week or if they are hosting an event or a show.

Create content

The second reason I made the trip to New York was to create content in a city that is made for blog photos. Sometimes I wished I lived in NYC just for photo opportunities LOL. I was able to create over 10 looks while in the city for four days. It’s also a great time to create group photos with other stylish bloggers I knew and I did just that. It was a perfect way to add a fresh look to my timeline and create more interesting content for you:-)

It also didn’t hurt that my husband/photographer came along to help me with my photos. It was out 10 wedding anniversary and we got all dressed up and took photos to celebrate the occasion. My dress is by ASOS, shoes by ShoeDazzle and my husband was dressed by The Black Tux as part of an upcoming collaboration.

It made sense financially

One of the other reasons I decided to attend this year was because I could justify it financially. I am now in a position where I receive steady monthly income from blogging and it made financial sense to pour back into my business by being at fashion week. It was one of the reasons that held me back for years.

My luggage is by Delsey Paris. They gifted me this gorgeous set that is  super functional, easy to maneuver and light weight.

Attend Fashion Shows

The final reason and the usual reason why most people attend is to be front and center of where the magic happens. It is something worth experiencing  in person. I enjoyed the few shows and presentation I was able to attend and I got to see first hand how the magic happens by going backstage at one of the shows. I am hoping to make this a yearly venture, maybe not always to New York Fashion Week. I have Paris & London on my mind for next year. Thank you for reading, enjoy the rest of your day!
